Chocolate has been prepared as a drink for nearly all of its history. For example, one vessel found at an Olmec archaeological site on the Gulf Coast of Veracruz, Mexico, dates chocolate's preparation by pre-Olmec peoples as early as 1750 BC. On the Pacific coast of Chiapas, Mexico, a Mokaya archaeological site provides evidence of cacao beverages dating even earlier, to 1900 BC. The residues and the kind of vessel in which they were found indicate the initial use of cacao was not simply as a beverage, but the white pulp around the cacao beans was likely used as a source of fermentable sugars for an alcoholic drink.
Made this for my church Christmas Potluck. Flavors were amazing but dish was a soupy mess, even after refrigerating for almost 24hrs. If I make again, i will not add almond milk to pudding and make 1.5-2x more of the whipped cream. I didn’t have enough with the recipe amount and had to run to store for more heavy whipping cream. Semisweet and bittersweet are terms for dark chocolate traditionally used in the United States to indicate the amount of added sugar. Found these chocolate bars when they used to come thru Costco once a quarter. Wow they are good! I'm a milk chocolate fan, my hubby is a dark chocolate fan... they were cheaper there but worth it. With only 2 net carbs for the whole chocolate bar, it satisfies anyone who can't do the sugar. Many of the sugar free chocolate has a lower grade maltitol and it gives some unpleasant side effects if you eat too much, this candy does not. I went with the dark chocolate no flavor and it's $10 more (was for a bday so I went with the favorite), don't understand why that is...
